Rachel McGathy is grateful to serve the Lord Jesus Christ at Mission Boulevard Baptist Church. Reared in hardship, she found solace in education. She ended high school as valedictorian and National Merit Finalist. Her plans were to attend Yale and work at a research institute. God had better plans.
The Lord sent a couple from MBBC to be her youth directors. She was saved, discipled and placed her life into the hands of the Lord. She attended the University of Arkansas in order to serve at MBBC. There, she met her husband Ron, wedded in 1994, and received the miraculous gift of their son RJ in 2011.
The Lord moved her to the University of Arkansas’ Enrollment Services division in 1998. She served on financial aid and scholarship committees and developed relationships in Admissions, the Registrar’s Office, Student Accounts, and Financial Aid, gaining knowledge of each area and garnering a wealth of professional development in student finance. She served on the FCS School Board, then joined the staff as guidance counselor in 2006, shamelessly nagging every student into some form of continuing education, and commended for her efforts by the 2009 ANSAA Accrediting Team.
Mrs. McGathy has a heart to reach students spiritually. She and her husband have welcomed 5 “exchange” students into their home. She is zealously committed to teaching Life Management, helping students be successful adults, and she feels privileged to teach Senior Girls Bible, challenging the students to “reason together” with the Lord so that their sins can be made “as white as snow”.
