Alicia Deavens

International Student Advisor

Biography

Alicia Collins Deavens has been a staff member, teacher, coach, and administrator at Fayetteville Christian School since 1995. She first became a member of Mission Blvd. Baptist Church in the fall of 1994. She is married to Lonnie Deavens and has two daughters, Chloe (age 20) and Krysten (age 15), and she has a godson, RJ McGathy (age 7). They all attend FCS.

Alicia grew up in southwest Arkansas where she attended Ashdown High School. She graduated from Ashdown in 1988, and went on to attend Texarkana College. Later she attended the University of Arkansas at Monticello and graduated with a B.S. in Computer Information Systems in 1992.

Alicia has a love for travel and missions, and these interests have naturally flowed over to her service at FCS. She is currently the International Student Advisor (PDSO). She also helps with the Senior Class activities such as fundraising and trip planning. Her other areas of service include being an instructor and mentor for all the students who compete in the local, regional and state science fairs. In 2019, she was recognized as “Teacher of the Year” by the Northwest Arkansas Science and Engineering Fair community.

Her other memberships and certifications include the following: G.L.O.B.E. Teacher, member of The Well Armed Woman Gun Club – NWA Chapter, NAACP Member, NRA Member, iYES Foundation – founding board member, Fayetteville Boys & Girls Club – board member, Suttles Family Reunion, Ozan Chapter – President, Washington County Republican Women, Secretary 2019-2020, and formerly served as Justice of the Peace, Washington County District 7, March 2017- December 2018.

Her favorite hobbies are traveling, studying eschatology, and studying technology. Her favorite word is “fernweh,” which in “Alicia” terms means being homesick for places she’s never been, hungry for food she’s never tasted, and ready for experiences she’s never had!
